DOUGLAS OVENS COMPOSER AND PERCUSSIONIST
Composer and percussionist, Douglas Ovens has performed in Akiyoshidai, Japan, across Europe and throughout the United States. Ovens is shown here in the premiere performance of his work, Visible Music for Bertoia Sound Sculptures and Orchestra, commissioned by the Allentown Symphony. Ovens has composed over 150 works and has had recent performances in Helsinki, Buenos Aires, and New York City. Other international performances have taken place in Berlin, Paris, Poland, Italy, Estonia and at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

His music has been premiered by Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu, Max Lifchitz, Idil Biret, Hanchien Lee, the Talujon Percussion Quartet, jazz legend Gary Burton, Craig Hultgren, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and Lontano (London based new music ensemble).
Ovens has written music for many plays :Emily Mann's Still Life, The Orestiea of Aeschylus, Gao Xingjian's The Other Shore, Gertrude Stein's Listen to Me, and most recently,Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry.
He currently resides in Pacific Grove, CA.H
